The Jetty Journals is set on the Mornington Peninsula, in Victoria, Australia.

The peninsula is an interesting part of Victoria...one part of long, narrowing pair of pincers encircling Port Phillip Bay.

On one side is the relatively calm, but big, Port Phillip Bay. On the other is the ocean, fronting onto Bass Strait, one of the roughest stretches of water in the world.

The peninsula is beautiful, and is home to wealthy holiday suburbs, an abandoned military base or two, national parks, and stunning Australian beaches.

Most of the places described in the Jetty Journals are real, including the lighthouse at Cape Schanck, Sorrento, and of course Flinders, where Karen sets up her refuge.
